SUPPORT STRUCTURES

Materials & finishes for support structures

Material and finish selection follows the hygiene zone, cleaning regime and budget. Vertex SynTech’s support-structure options include painted carbon steel, 304 stainless steel and 316 / 316L stainless steel.

Choose construction for the environment

Compare the available material options by application context. Selection for a particular cleaning chemistry, exposure and machine arrangement is part of the engineering brief.

Choose construction for the environment
MaterialApplication contextOptions and considerations
Painted carbon steelDry or lower-corrosion environmentsPowder coating or industrial paint; suitable where full washdown is not required
304 stainless steelFood-processing construction with washdown requirementsCorrosion resistance and cleanable, hygienic detailing
316 / 316L stainless steelMore aggressive cleaning or salt/chemical exposureHigher corrosion-resistance option for the specified environment

Surface and deck options

Available finishes include mill, brushed and glass-bead blasted surfaces. Checker plate is a decking option. Hybrid construction can combine painted and stainless components where appropriate.

Detail the access and cleaning features

The structural brief can include floor drains, removable railings, kick plates, protection covers and service openings. These details work with the layout, not as isolated finish choices.

  • Confirm material grade and surface finish
  • Define washdown zone and drainage route
  • Identify removable railings and access openings
  • Review cable and pneumatic routing

Examples of structural detailing

The equipment details show checker-plate stairs, a platform kick plate and a floor drain. They illustrate features to consider with the actual installation requirements.
